Immune System Support

Will these products help support my immune system?

Yes, according to EU research. Several of our products can claim immunity benefits as they have ingredients which have been studied and validated by EFSA (the European Food Safety Authority). Look for the “immune system support” logo on products that contain these ingredients.

Do your immunity products contain Manuka honey?

Yes, all our immunity products contain the same Manuka honey that we also sell in jars. Harvested from our own Manuka Doctor hives in New Zealand and tested to meet the strict New Zealand Government Standard. Manuka honey has anti-microbial properties than other types of honey does not display.

Should I look for products that include Vitamin C?

Yes. This nutrient has several important functions according to the NHS, including protecting cells and keeping them healthy, maintaining healthy skin, blood vessels, bones and cartilage and helping with wound healing (1). Manuka Doctor’s Bee’s Sneeze capsules contain 600 per cent of your recommend amount of Vitamin C. Our Immune Defence Syrup also contains this important nutrient.

Is Zinc important for immunity?

Yes. Zinc contributes to the normal function of the immune system. Since the human body does not store zinc, it must be consumed regularly as part of the diet. You can find it in seafood, red meat, chickpeas, eggs, pumpkin and sunflower seeds. The NHS website recommends women consume 7mg of Zinc a day (1). Manuka Doctor’s new Manuka Middles contain Zinc, with just one lozenge providing 15 per cent of your daily requirement. Our Bee’s Sneeze capsules also contain Zinc.

Can honey help with coughs?

Yes. Advice published by NHS watchdog NICE and Public Health England in 2018 says honey should be the first line of treatment for patients with a cough (1). The guidelines say antibiotics make little difference to coughs, while honey can help with the symptoms.

In an interview Dr Tessa Lewis, of NICE, said: “In the committee’s view, taking a spoonful of honey or a honey and lemon drink is a good first step a person can take for self-treatment for a cough. Honey is a natural remedy which has been tried and tested for generations.” (2)
