Our award winning Manuka Doctor skincare products have been in the press again, this time it’s Kate the Princess of Wales, who has been linked to the amazing age-defying properties of one of our key skincare ingredients, bee venom. This isn’t the first time Kate has been linked to the Manuka Doctor brand. Back in 2011 it was reported that Kate loved bee venom facials and Manuka Doctor was hailed as the high street favourite.

Kate's Bee Venom Botox

Kate is not the only celebrity to have fallen for ‘nature’s botox’. Gwyneth Paltrow, Victoria Beckham, Millie Mackintosh and Kourtney Kardashian all reportedly love the buzz about bee venom. And where they lead, we follow. Let’s face it, the chance to easily achieve a radiant and a-list complexion is beyond tempting. Their love of bee venom facials and creams started the rest of us wondering what was so fabulous about it - and where we might get some for ourselves!

Manuka Doctor is the pioneer in bee venom for anti-ageing. There have been many clinical trials into its age-defying properties, where bee venom has shown to stimulate cell turnover, whilst also reversing sun damage as well as proving to be an alternative to antibiotic therapy for acne. Manuka Doctor also developed and patented the first ever purification process to ensure that no impurities ended up in the skincare formulations. In fact, when applied to skin, Purified Bee Venom (PBV™) has actually been shown to increase production of vital collagen producing cells.

Here’s how it works... Purified Bee Venom (PBV™) is a blend of enzymes, peptides and amino acids. One of the key anti-ageing elements of bee venom is melittin, which helps the skin to produce collagen and elastin, both of which plump up the complexion, as well as helping to maintain youthful elasticity and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Bee venom is incredibly precious. When a bee stings, it usually dies, as the stinger is left behind. But don’t worry, when it comes to Manuka Doctor, the collection of bee venom is a gentle process during which the bees are unharmed.

To collect the bee venom, a glass pane with a light electrical current running through it is placed near the bees, and then the collected venom is purified, ready for making into effective skincare.
