Bites, burns, stings and blemishes?

Introducing NEW Skin Ease Gel. This fast-acting, soothing gel helps to calm irritated skin, relieve itching, reduce inflammation and is the perfect choice for burns, bites, stings and blemishes. Containing powerful antimicrobial Apple cider vinegar [3] and Manuka honey [4], this soothing gel helps to reduce harmful bacteria [5], whilst Neem leaf extract, Manuka honey [6] and Aloe vera leaf extract help to promote skin healing.[7]

Not only does Neem have numerous antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, Neem leaf extract accelerates wound healing [8] and has even proven effective as an insect repellent! [9].

Interestingly, it’s Manuka honey’s potent antibacterial effect which may in itself play a role in reducing inflammation – a 2013 paper by world-leading Manuka honey expert, Professor Peter Molan, found Manuka honey is efficient at removing bacteria-harbouring substances in wounds that give rise to inflammation.[10]

Finally, Witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) another shrub which has been used for centuries as a remedy for a variety of skin ailments related to irritation and inflammation is featured within our NEW Skin Ease Gel. [11]

It’s the combination of these wonderous natural ingredients that has resulted in a cooling, soothing gel ideal for burns, bites, stings and blemishes. Find out more here…

“I recently had an irritating bite which would not go away. After applying the Skin Ease Gel just once, the inflammation went down and itching stopped. AMAZING!” Julie A

Cold sores and dry, cracked lips?

Introducing NEW Lysine & Manuka Lip Cream. This soothing lip cream brings together a powerhouse of natural ingredients to help prevent and shorten the duration of cold sores. Lysine is an essential amino acid found in protein which isn’t produced in your body and has been proven to help to slow down or prevent the growth of the herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), responsible for cold sores. It’s important to note that Lysine is not a cure for cold sores, but it may help prevent and shorten the duration of an outbreak. [12]

Antimicrobial Manuka honey has been included in the NEW Lip Cream as Manuka has been proven to help speed up the healing process by stimulating the inflammatory response in the body, leading to the regeneration of skin cells and connective tissues. Plus the pH level of honey is very low, which also reduces infection [13].

Antiviral Aloe vera helps to inhibit the development of sores [14] whilst moisturising Avena sativa oat oil promotes skin healing. Avena sativa (Oat) kernel oil is a golden lipid extracted from oats with amazing moisturising and healing properties and a non-greasy finish. It has shown effectiveness in treating a variety of skin conditions, including skin rashes, erythema, burns, itch, and eczema thanks to its anti-inflammatory abilities. [15]

The addition of Witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) also helps to calm irritation and inflammation. [11]

“I’ve tried every cold sore product under the sun but nothing works as well as this wonder Lip Cream from Manuka Doctor. Sores literally dried up within 2 days!” Dawn G

Muscle aches, pains and joint stiffness?

If you’ve been a customer of Manuka Doctor for around 10 years then you may well be familiar with our original Rub Ease Balm formula. We have been working on a revised formula for some time now and are excited to introduce our NEW Soothing Rub Ease Balm.

The new soothing formula features well known anti-inflammatory ingredients to help ease tired, aching muscles and stiff joints. One of the original Rub Ease Balm ingredients is wonder ingredient from the hive; Purified Bee Venom (PBVä). Did you know that Bee Venom has been used as a form of complementary medicine for arthritis for thousands of years? Bee venom contains a variety of enzymes, peptides, and amino acids. Results of a 2020 meta-analysis of several randomized controlled trials investigating bee venom therapy for a range of diseases, including arthritis concluded that bee venom therapy might be beneficial in treating inflammatory forms of arthritis.[16]

Other well-known anti-inflammatory ingredients from the hive include; High-strength Manuka honey – made by bees collecting nectar from New Zealand Manuka bushes. Researchers suggest honey could speed up the healing process because honey stimulates the inflammatory response in the body, leading to the regeneration of skin cells and connective tissues. [17]

Beeswax dates back to ancient Egypt: as reported by the Ebers Papyrus (1550 B.C.), beeswax was the main ingredient in many recipes for the preparation of ointments and creams used to help pull plugs, to treat burns and wounds and to soothe joint pain.[18]

Glucosamine, perhaps the more widely known ingredient used to treat symptoms of inflammatory conditions, is also included in Manuka Protectä Soothing Rub Ease Balm. Glucosamine has been shown to inhibit inflammatory pathways in human synovial cells. These cells are responsible for producing synovial fluid components, or joint fluid. [19] Also a study investigating Glucosamine sulfate and Chondroitin sulfate applied topically, proved the formula effective in relieving the pain from osteoarthritis of the knee with evident improvement within 4 weeks. [20]

Another natural ingredient within the balm is Hemp seed oil. Ongoing investigations have demonstrated that cannabinoids like Hemp seed oil have good anti-inflammatory properties and will have an immediate and direct effect on any inflammation-based health problems, for example, joint pain due to arthritis, rheumatoid joint inflammation, osteoarthritis and some more. Cannabis sativa (Hemp) seed oil contains gamma-linoleic acid (GLA), which acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory. A 2011 study suggests that adding omega-3s, such as those found in hemp oil, can reduce inflammation. [21]

And finally, Peppermint oil features within our NEW Soothing Rub Ease Balm to produce a cooling sensation when applied to skin to help reduce heat caused by inflamed muscles.

“I’ve been suffering with a painful frozen shoulder for months now but to my amazement after applying the Muscle & Joint Cream over night, I woke with a pain free shoulder! Absolutely incredible, thank you Manuka Doctor!” Nicky G
